Cinderella Story

sounds like ara

Cinderella by Hans Printz

How do you represent ara through music?

Of course, you need shoes. Like ara, our musical composition has to start with footwear that combines attractive design with the perfect fit.

Second, you need a German origin story. ara proudly hails from a land where both traditional craftsmanship and innovative technologies are not just welcome, but integral to the people’s identity.

Third, you need to honor heritage. Being family owned for well over seven decades, ara understands the importance of revering the legacy you’ve been given.

Finally, you need to focus on gratitude. You don’t stay in business for the better part of a century and become the 2024 National Shoe Retailers Association Vendor of the Year without appreciating meaningful relationships with suppliers, retail partners, and customers.

So what do you get when you combine these ingredients together?

a story like you’ve never heard before

“Cinderella” by Elenore Abbott

To portray ara through music, I started with the fairy tale of Cinderella. There’s simply no story that better illustrates a shoe with attractive design and the perfect fit!

But I didn’t choose the Disney version of Cinderella which many of us know. I chose the Brothers Grimm version. It’s ideal because of its German origin, and the connections don’t stop there.

In the Brothers Grimm’s Cinderella, our protagonist doesn’t have a fairy godmother who grants wishes. Instead, this Cinderella receives her gown and slippers because of her love for family.

After her father remarries, Cinderella plants a tree to honor her mother’s memory. She diligently cares for the tree, and at one point a bird appears and begins to grant her wishes. That’s how she becomes adorned to attend the ball, where she meets the prince whom she ultimately marries.

a new way to say thank you

Where does the gratitude come in, then? With my composition, “Cinderella Story.”

For this piece, I imagined that Cinderella is visiting her mother’s tree for the first time after she’s married the prince. This is the soundtrack you might hear as she pours forth gratitude for the blessings she’s received.

what now?

How you use “Cinderella Story” is completely up to you! I wrote the piece to express thanks, so you might use it in the same way.

Perhaps we could feature the work in a special event for your retail partners, or produce a short video telling its story to post online and share with media outlets.
